Train Reflections: Another Series

Image
A new favorite pastime of mine has become taking selfies while on the train (known as the 'L' in Chicago) as my reflection becomes visible across from me.  This is also now a safe space I have created for myself to report on my own personal reflections while on the train. So enjoy this nice multimedia:  1) Daniel and I during move-in week: 2) Daniel and I (you can see a theme here), maybe the 'L' really stands for love 💗:  3) Myself with Isabella and Dan, some very happy visitors (because they were staying with me of course): 4) Reflection moment: these shoes should not exist. But maybe if I wore them I would move like this on public transit too. So maybe this dude is onto something. Regardless, I will never be able to unsee this:

Pitfalls of AI: A Series

Image
I have decided to dedicate a continuing post to documenting some rather laughable mistakes AI has made in response to my prompts. Because if it's not gonna satisfy my needs, it needs to be publicly shamed.  1) I am on a quest to buy earrings of ears, ideally that are also wearing earrings. I found a pair on Etsy but there weren't any helpful reviews, so I decided to ask AI to show me what I'd look like with them. This is what happened (this was taken in front of a store about me in Greece): 2) I naturally wanted to see what my boyfriend would look like as a dog, so I asked my artificially intelligent friends to give me a cocker Daniel. Not to make this a ChatGPT vs. Gemini post, but Gemini (top) didn't seem to get the memo. ChatGPT did a bit better:

The Pine Nut Monopoly

I have made an important discovery that I just wanted to take the time to share with all five (?) of you: In my efforts to satisfy my craving of Costco pesto in the absence of accessibility to Costco, I decided to embark on a mission of making my very own  Costco pesto. I of course did a quick Google search and found a nice AI summary recipe. So, I gather all of the ingredients (basil x 2 because apparently basil goes bad quicker than Taylor Swift releasing a new album - are you supposed to refrigerate fresh basil???) but decide to make the economical decision of purchasing sunflower seeds instead of pine nuts. Pine nuts are expensive, ok? The internet also told me sunflower seeds would be ok (thank you Reddit), plus Costco pesto uses sunflower oil in addition to EVOO so I'm really just killing two birds with one stone. Don't worry, I made sure to buy unsalted sunflower seeds so as not to mess with the flavor profile too much! I also bought blocks of cheese instead of pre-grat...

The Case of the Reappearing Plunger

Something very strange hath happened to me. This story requires a little jump back in time, circa t-one month …   I’m anxiously awaiting my departure to the great land of Illinois, where I will have my own studio apartment for the first time and be responsible for every single household item one can imagine -- yes, including spices, of which I now have my very own cumin and curry powder! #adulting. Anyway, I decided to start with the basics:  1) toilet plunger  2) mattress   Now, I don’t think I need to defend my choices, but let’s just say that if you only have one toilet, a plunger is a no-brainer priority purchase. Because shit happens. So I order my plunger and am grateful for the millionth time for Amazon Prime because it’ll be there to greet me when I arrive, and I really couldn’t ask for a better housewarming gift! Fast forward a few days . I show up to my apartment to not only no plunger, but also to a Home Depot email saying my mattress delivery has ...
